Polis & the European Economic and Social Committee is organizing an international conference: Innovation in transport for sustainable cities and region on 17-18 November 2011, in Brussels.
The Annual Polis Conference provides an opportunity for cities and regions to showcase their transport achievements to a large audience and for the wider transport community to engage with representatives of city and regional authorities on innovative transport solutions. The conference offers a mix of high-level plenary sessions, with prominent figures debating topical issues, and a wide selection of technical sessions showing innovation in policy and practice across the transport spectrum.
This year’s conference is being organised in partnership with the European Economic and Social Committee, a consultative body of the European Union representing civil society across the EU. Polis is cooperating with the Section for Transport, Energy, Infrastructure and the Information Society (TEN), which covers the full range of issues relating to the various transport modes, the different forms of energy production, major infrastructure networks, the information society and services of general interest. The conference will therefore provide further opportunities to dialogue on innovation with employers and employees representatives from the transport sector
Innovation is at the heart of Polis’ mission. Special emphasis will be placed on innovation at this year’s
conference through the showcasing of innovative transport solutions and niche applications across a wide variety of areas. These will also be discussed in the context of European transport policy and their ability to contribute to the improvement of economic and social conditions.
